Soccer Game Preview: Marquez vs. Maywood CES

Marquez is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Maywood CES is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Marquez Gladiators will welcome the Maywood CES Wolfpack at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marquez knows how to get goals on the board -- the team has finished with four goals or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Maywood CES likes a good challenge.

Marquez's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 7-0 margin over Torres. Give the Gladiators' defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

While Maywood CES's fans didn't get a definitive result on Monday, they were treated to the team's highest-scoring tie of the season. They and Maywood Academy finished up their game with a 3-3 draw. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time the Wolfpack have been dealt a draw since back in December of 2024.

Joanna Rosas and Janely Gonzalez scored all three of Maywood CES's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Marquez is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 40 goals over those seven contests. With that draw, Maywood CES's record moves to 9-5-4.
