Basketball Recap: Cypress Comes Up Short

Cypress came up into this matchup off a tough 41-point loss last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the La Habra Highlanders by a score of 37-35 on Tuesday. The Centurions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Highlanders earlier this season, when they won 57-39.

When it comes to explaining why Cypress lost, don't look at Jocelyn Tani. Despite the final result, she posted seven points and seven steals. The dominant performance gave Tani a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Shigekawa, who put up eight points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Cypress smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 21 consecutive matches.

Cypress dropped their record down to 10-11 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for La Habra, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-16.
