Granada lost against American back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. 2025 welcomed the Granada Matadors with a 61-40 loss courtesy of the American Eagles. The Matadors' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

American found their leader in sophomore Shirina Shi, who posted 26 points and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Shi has scored at least a third of American's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anika Batra, who had 11 points and six rebounds.

Granada's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for American, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.

Granada didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-40 loss against Marin Catholic on the 4th. As for American, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-43 defeat against James Logan on the 7th.
