Softball Recap: Dunwoody Drops Season-High Score on Arabia Mountain

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dunwoody). They blew past the Arabia Mountain Rams 20-2 on Tuesday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by nine runs or more this season.

Anslie Worley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Worley was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last ten matches.

In other batting news, Brooke Parkes and Kaz McLoughlin did most of the damage at the plate: Parkes went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while McLoughlin went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Parkes has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lauren Dowhower, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Dunwoody always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .765. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Dunwoody is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Arabia Mountain, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Looking ahead, Dunwoody will challenge Tri-Cities at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.13 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Arabia Mountain, they will square off against Washington at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
