Football Game Preview: Hugoton Eagles vs. Holcomb Longhorns

Hugoton is 2-8 against Holcomb since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eagles will welcome the Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated (Hugoton has eight wins dating back to last season, while Holcomb has six).

Hugoton had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 28-point drubbing they dealt Cimarron on Friday. The Eagles took their game with ease, bagging a 35-7 win over the Bluejays. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Holcomb hadn't done well against Scott recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Longhorns put the hurt on the Beavers with a sharp 32-7 victory. The Longhorns are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the fifth contest they've won by 20+ points this season.

Hugoton better focus on containing Cooper Cranston and Chasyn Cosner as the pair were huge in Holcomb's win. Cranston rushed for 210 yards and one TD while picking up 12.4 yards per carry, while Cosner rushed for 94 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Cranston really tore up the turf during one magnificent 82-yard run.

Holcomb was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 312 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 209 rushing yards in five consecutive games.

Holcomb's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Hugoton, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 6-0.
