Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Olivia Biffar and Karmon Grohmann Lead Gibault Catholic to Victory + How To Watch

Gibault Catholic won the last time they faced New Athens and things went their way on Saturday too. The Hawks took down the Yellow Jackets 52-34. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

Gibault Catholic was led to victory by Karmon Grohmann and Olivia Biffar. Grohmann dropped a double-double with 27 points and 11 boards, while Biffar shot 44% from the field on her way to 20 points and seven steals. Those seven steals gave Biffar a new career-high.

New Athens' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooke Deterding, who posted seven points and four steals. Deterding has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Albers, who had eight points along with 11 rebounds and five steals.

Gibault Catholic now has a winning record of 2-1. As for New Athens, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Gibault Catholic will venture away from home to square off against Belleville West at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for New Athens, they will head out to take on East Alton-Wood River at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
