Basketball Recap: Segerstrom Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Segerstrom won against Santa Fe on Saturday with 50 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. The Segerstrom Jaguars secured a 50-44 W over the Upland Highlanders/Scots. The victory was nothing new for the Jaguars as they're now sitting on six straight.

Segerstrom's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was April Valenciano, who posted 14 points and six steals. Valenciano is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Claudia Solis, who had 13 points.

Segerstrom is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Upland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.

Segerstrom and Ontario will round out the year against one another at at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Ontario's defense has only allowed 26.6 points per game this season, so Segerstrom's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Upland, they will welcome Chaffey at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
