Baseball Recap: Coronado Takes a Loss

Coronado had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-19 to make it five. They came up short against the Shadow Mountain Matadors, falling 16-2. If the Dons were looking for revenge after losing 29-9 to the Matadors when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jaxton Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Coronado: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-18 otherwise.

As for Shadow Mountain, the victory got them back to even at 12-12-1. Considering they have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Shadow Mountain's side, Asher Kendall was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs Kendall has posted since back in March. Andy Chaplick was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and one run.

Coronado wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 16-2 loss against Highland Prep West on the 27th. As for Shadow Mountain, they have also already played their next game, a 9-3 win against St. Mary's on the 27th.
