Baseball Recap: Coronado Dons vs. Shadow Mountain Matadors

Coronado had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-19 to make it five. They came up short against the Shadow Mountain Matadors, falling 16-2. If the Dons were looking for revenge after losing 29-9 to the Matadors when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jaxton Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Coronado: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-18 otherwise.

Coronado wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 16-2 loss against Highland Prep West on the 27th. As for Shadow Mountain, they have also already played their next game, a 9-3 win against St. Mary's on the 27th.
