Softball Recap: Columbus Falls Short of Callaway in the Playoffs

Columbus and Callaway squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Columbus had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-3 on Wednesday.

Layla Hendrick was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. Lexi Winchester was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Columbus and nudges their season record down to 13-17. As for Callaway, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-18.

Columbus does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Callaway, they have already played their next game, a 15-0 loss against Morgan County on the 30th.
