Central Plains faced Ell-Saline in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Oilers were dealt  a  36-6 loss at the hands of the Cardinals. Having soared to a lofty 32  points in the game before, the Oilers couldn't push the score so high this time.
  Richard Stroud and  Broc Klima certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss.  Stroud rushed for 109 yards on only ten carries, while  Klima rushed for 65 yards and one  touchdown.
 Ell-Saline's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Reese Krone, who rushed for 82 yards and a pair of  TDs, and also threw for 139 yards and three  touchdowns. Those  82  rushing yards gave  Krone a new career-high.  Kas Kramer was another key player, gaining 179 total yards.
Central Plains' defeat  ended  an  eight-game streak of away wins  dating back to last season and  brought them to 5-3. As for Ell-Saline, the  victory was  the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.
 The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Central Plains will head out to  take on Sylvan-Lucas  at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Oilers will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least 31  points  every time they've taken the field this season. As for Ell-Saline, they will be playing at home against Washington County  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Cardinals will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.25  points per  game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
