Basketball Recap: Hesperia Falls Despite Big Games from Jocelyne Lerma and Berlynn Miramontes

After flying high against Sultana last Monday, Hesperia came back down to earth. The Hesperia Scorpions fell 51-44 to the Oak Hills Bulldogs on Wednesday. The Scorpions have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Hesperia's loss came despite strong showings from Berlynn Miramontes and Jocelyne Lerma. Miramontes posted 15 points and five steals, while Lerma dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Miramontes' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Even though they lost, Hesperia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Hesperia now has a losing record at 13-14. As for Oak Hills, they pushed their record up to 15-11 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

As of now, neither Hesperia nor Oak Hills have any future games scheduled.
