Preview: Golden Valley Grizzlies vs. Canyon Cowboys
Golden Valley has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Canyon Cowboys at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Golden Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 915th, while Canyon is ranked 315th).
Golden Valley suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 68-18 loss at the hands of Hart. Golden Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-2.
Meanwhile, Canyon earned a 46-35 win over West Ranch on Tuesday.
Josie Regez continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Regez is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Taylor Ford was another key contributor, scoring five points along with ten rebounds.
Golden Valley's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-15. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.0 points per game. As for Canyon, their win bumped their record up to 11-12.
Golden Valley took a serious blow against Canyon in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 60-30. Can Golden Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
