After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Papillion-LaVista South, Kearney was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Millard North Mustangs 31-28. The victory continues a trend for the Bearcats in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

The critical scores for Kearney came from Adrick Techmeier, Cole Larsen, John Florell, and Frazier Foster.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Kearney, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Foster, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Kearney didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Trey Norman.

Millard North's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Traylor, who rushed for 103 yards and one TD. Another signal caller making a difference was Cameron Leggett, who threw for 168 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Kearney now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Millard North, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Kearney will face off against Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Discoverers' defense has only allowed 14.1 points per game this season, so the Bearcats' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Millard North, they will challenge Omaha Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
