Basketball Recap: Schuylkill Haven Sets Scoring Season-High Against Panther Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Schuylkill Haven). They blew past the Panther Valley Panthers 65-28 on Monday. Given the Hurricanes' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Panthers are ranked 505th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Schuylkill Haven to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alea Porter, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Schaeffer, who put up 13 points.

Despite the loss, Panther Valley still got an impressive performance from Morgan Orsulak, who went 6 of 11 en route to 13 points and five boards.

The victory (which was Schuylkill Haven's third in a row) raised their record to 14-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points over those games. As for Panther Valley, their record now sits at 8-11.

Schuylkill Haven has already played their next contest, a 46-14 win against Palisades on the 29th. As for Panther Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 56-24 defeat against Tamaqua on the 30th.
