Baseball Recap: Kohler Blue Bombers vs. New Holstein Huskies
Kohler dropped to 11-11 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Holstein Huskies. The shutout was out of character for the Blue Bombers seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in April.
As for New Holstein, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-9. Give their pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
For New Holstein's part, the result came thanks to Conner Popp's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. Popp also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Huskies are 8-3 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise.
On the hitting side, New Holstein's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Colton Doherty, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Doherty is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kohler will challenge North Fond du Lac at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for New Holstein, they will square off against Mayville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
