Preview: Archbishop Ryan Raiders and Ragdolls vs. Neumann-Goretti Saints
Archbishop Ryan is 0-10 against Neumann-Goretti since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Archbishop Ryan Raiders and Ragdolls just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Neumann-Goretti Saints at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Archbishop Ryan has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Neumann-Goretti will arrive with seven straight victories.
On Monday, Archbishop Ryan came up short against Conwell-Egan Catholic and fell 50-41. Archbishop Ryan has struggled against Conwell-Egan Catholic recently, as their contest on Monday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Neumann-Goretti didn't have too much trouble with Imhotep Charter on the road on Sunday as they won 51-36. Given Neumann-Goretti's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Imhotep Charter is ranked 175th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Neumann-Goretti's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carryn Easley led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Reginna Baker was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Archbishop Ryan bumped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Neumann-Goretti, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Archbishop Ryan was taken down by Neumann-Goretti 59-29 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Archbishop Ryan, Amirah Hackney (who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
