Basketball Recap: El Capitan Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact El Capitan can now relate to. They took a 57-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Portola Bulldogs on Thursday.

When it comes to explaining why El Capitan lost, don't look at Keira Heinricy. Despite the final result, she went 8-for-17 to rack up 24 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Heinricy has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Worthem, who shot 63% from the field en route to 11 points.

El Capitan has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 24-7 record this season. The win made it two in a row for Portola and bumps their season record up to 19-15.

El Capitan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Portola, they will head out on the road to square off against Monache at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
