Soccer Game Preview: Golden West vs. Porterville

The Golden West Trailblazers will venture away from home to take on the Porterville Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Porterville took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Golden West, who comes in off a win.

If Porterville heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Golden West took over last week. Golden West walked away with a 3-1 win over Mt. Whitney on Tuesday. Jessica Garcia had to tread lightly for part of the match after she was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble the Trailblazers got from the refs.

Golden West hit Mt. Whitney with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Kaitlin Siebuhr, Garcia, and Emma Nesmith.

Meanwhile, Porterville came up short against Redwood on Tuesday, falling 8-1. Things were pretty much settled by the half as the Panthers were already down 6-0.

Golden West's victory bumped their record up to 4-6-3. As for Porterville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3-3.

Golden West skirted past Porterville 1-0 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Golden West since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
