Mapletown skates past Avella with ease

Recap: Mapletown Maples vs. Avella Eagles

The Mapletown Maples scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They blew past Avella, posting a 49-21 win on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Mapletown has managed all season.

Avella's loss came despite strong showings from Ava Frank and Sydney Strope. Frank scored eight points along with three steals, while Strope scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals. Strope is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

The victory makes it two in a row for Mapletown and bumps their season record up to 5-6. As for Avella, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.

Mapletown will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Geibel Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th. Hopefully Geibel Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday. As for Avella, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Avella in Pennsylvania (Our Lady of the Sacred Heart is ranked 197th, while Avella is ranked 642nd).
