Baseball Game Preview: Larkin Royals vs. South Elgin Storm

For the second straight game, Larkin will face off against South Elgin. The Royals will welcome the Storm at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Larkin has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight defeats, while South Elgin will come in with five straight victories.

Monday just wasn't the day for Larkin's offense. They came up short against South Elgin on Monday, falling 15-0.

For South Elgin's part, Zacharia Barko made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Barko has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Trevor Tinsley looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Evan Gomez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Nathan Robertson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

South Elgin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Larkin's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for South Elgin, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.
