Basketball Recap: Serra Catholic Comes Up Short

Serra Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bishop Canevin Crusaders. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Crusaders earlier this season, when they won 54-33.

Despite the loss, Serra Catholic saw an underclassman step up: freshman Bella Dumbroski posted 23 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. That was a full 46% of Serra Catholic's points, marking the third time in a row Dumbroski has scored more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendalyn Niedermeyer, who put up five points.

Serra Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Bishop Canevin, they pushed their record up to 13-10 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Serra Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bishop Canevin, they will challenge St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
