Baseball Recap: Echols County Extends Winning Streak to Three

Echols County waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Brooks County Trojans by a score of 6-3. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 14-2 victory on Friday.

Remington Goss was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Goss was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Echols County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-15 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Drew Gribble was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Echols County's victory bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Brooks County, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.

Echols County and Brooks County could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. Echols County (ranked 409th) will meet Charlton County (ranked 130th) at 4:30 p.m. on April 7. Meanwhile, Brooks County will square off against Irwin County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 307 places (446 vs. 139).
