Baseball Recap: Rome Wolves vs. Villa Rica Wildcats
Rome was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 12-0 to the Villa Rica Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 last Wednesday.
Rome saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Slatky, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Rome's loss dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Villa Rica, their victory was their 11th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-2.
Rome will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lithia Springs at 5:55 p.m. on the 15th. The Wolves are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Villa Rica, they will square off against McEachern at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 1.6, the Indians 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
