Preview: Lick-Wilmerding Tigers vs. San Domenico Panthers
The Lick-Wilmerding Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the San Domenico Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Lick-Wilmerding sitting on four straight victories and San Domenico on five.
Lick-Wilmerding put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They really took it to Marin Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-35 win at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Lick-Wilmerding has posted since December 15, 2023.
Lick-Wilmerding found their leader in underclassman Lauryn Lacap, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 33 steals. Lacap has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Moy, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, San Domenico was fully in charge on Wednesday, breezing past Marin Academy 62-15 at home. With San Domenico ahead 36-8 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Lick-Wilmerding has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for San Domenico, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8.
Lick-Wilmerding couldn't quite finish off San Domenico when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 50-47. Can Lick-Wilmerding avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
