Baseball Recap: New Manchester Comes Up Short

After flying high against Banneker last Tuesday, New Manchester came back down to earth. The New Manchester Jaguar fell just short of the Chapel Hill Panthers by a score of 8-6 on Friday. The Jaguar were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in February of 2023.

Justin Bradford and Brandon Fears did some serious damage despite the final result: Bradford scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Fears scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Fears is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stolen at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

New Manchester's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Chapel Hill, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-3.

Looking ahead, New Manchester will square off against Lovejoy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. New Manchester is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Chapel Hill, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers take on the Wildcats at 5:55 p.m. on Monday.
