Basketball Recap: Five Straight Road Victories for Monterey Trail

Monterey Trail won the last time they faced Laguna Creek and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Monterey Trail Mustangs walked away with a 50-42 victory over the Laguna Creek Cardinals. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Cardinals are ranked 383rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Monterey Trail's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for Laguna Creek, they moved to 10-7 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coincidentally, Monterey Trail and Laguna Creek will both be playing Cosumnes Oaks the next time they take the court. Laguna Creek will head out to face Cosumnes Oaks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Monterey Trail will host them at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd.
