Softball Recap: Macomb Takes a Loss

The matchup between Macomb and Illini West on Thursday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Bombers fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 11-9. The Bombers just can't catch a break and have now endured five defeats in a row.

Brooklyn Lyles and Kinley Sloan did some serious damage despite the final result: Lyles got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one double, while Sloan went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Autumn Starbuck, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI.

Macomb's record now sits at 3-13. As for Illini West, their win bumped their record up to 10-13.

Coincidentally, Macomb and Illini West will both be playing Quincy Notre Dame the next time they take the field. The Chargers will head out to face the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Bombers will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
