Football Game Preview: South River Seahawks vs. Southern Bulldogs + How To Watch

South River has gone a perfect 6-0 against Southern recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Seahawks will look to defend their home field against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. South River will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

South River is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Crofton 56-16. Considering the Seahawks have won four games by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

South River's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Benjamin Raines led the charge by throwing for 384 yards and seven TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes. Thanks to that big game, Raines is now up to 20 passing touchdowns on the season. Another pass catcher making a difference was Jaden McDuffie, who picked up 201 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 58 points the game before, Southern was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 28-12 to Washington. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 164th in Maryland, while the Patriots are ranked 44th in West Virginia).

Southern's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4. As for South River, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.

South River skirted past Southern 22-20 in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Will the Seahawks repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
