Basketball Recap: Serrano Comes Up Short

Serrano was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the Hesperia Scorpions 66-32. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Diamondbacks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-36 on January 7th.

Hesperia was led to victory by Annabel Sanchez and Berlynn Miramontes. Sanchez dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds, while Miramontes dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 steals. Sanchez continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Paris Leonard, who posted six points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Serrano's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Hesperia, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season.

Serrano has already played their next match (against Apple Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hesperia will square off against Silverado at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Silverado will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Hesperia surely won't give up without a fight.
