Baseball Recap: Laney Wildcats vs. Burke County Bears
Laney extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-12 in the process. They came up short against the Burke County Bears, falling 18-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-0 back in March.
As for Burke County, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games.
For Burke County's part, they let Kaleb Scott and Skyler Brown run wild. Scott got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Brown went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Scott a new career-high.
Laney wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 16-2 defeat against Augusta Prep Day on the 16th. As for Burke County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-1 win against Butler on the 16th.
