Volleyball Recap: Windsor Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Hallie Burroughs and Avery Smiley

Windsor suffered their biggest loss since November 16, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Fossil Ridge SaberCats. The Wizards have struggled against the SaberCats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

While Windsor ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-18, 25-20.

Windsor's loss came despite strong showings from Avery Smiley and Hallie Burroughs. Smiley had 20 digs and two aces, while Burroughs had 13 assists and five digs. Smiley has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times she's played.

Leading Fossil Ridge to victory were Trinity Burchett and Shanin Pottle. Burchett had 18 digs and two aces, while Pottle had six digs and three aces. That's the most digs Burchett has posted since back in November of 2024.

Windsor's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Fossil Ridge, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Coincidentally, Windsor and Fossil Ridge will both be playing Poudre the next time they take the court. The SaberCats will head out to face the Impalas at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Wizards will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
