Softball Recap: Gridley Bulldogs vs. Live Oak Lions
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Gridley can now relate to. They fell just short of the Live Oak Lions by a score of 6-5 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Lions this season, with their most recent loss being a 6-5 defeat last Tuesday.
Kaydenze Pruitt was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Pruitt was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Malayna Ceballos led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Delanie Cloyd, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Gridley moved to 17-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Live Oak, they pushed their record up to 13-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.
