Basketball Recap: Riverdale Takes a Loss

Riverdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by the Fresno Christian Eagles 49-22. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cowboys of the 43-23 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Riverdale still got an impressive performance from Karen Ayala, who posted 13 points. That was a full 59.1% of Riverdale's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Riverdale's loss dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Fresno Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-13.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Riverdale will challenge Firebaugh at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Firebaugh's defense has only allowed 27.3 points per game this season, so Riverdale's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Fresno Christian, they will square off against Desert at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fresno Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
