Baseball Game Preview: Annapolis Cougars vs. Thurston Eagles

Annapolis is 8-2 against Thurston since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Cougars will host the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Annapolis is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Saturday. They lost 17-3 to Trenton.

Eric Armstrong made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Annapolis' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-2 (and 6-12 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Thurston's offense. They came up short against Garden City on Wednesday, falling 16-0.

Annapolis' loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Thurston, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Annapolis has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Thurston struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Annapolis got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Thurston by a conclusive 17-1 score. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
