Softball Recap: Lexington Comes Up Short

Lexington fell victim to Hershey and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 6-0. The Minutemen just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Valerie Matzar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

Lexington's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Hershey, their record now sits at 6-15.

Looking ahead, Lexington will head out to challenge Highway 6 at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Minutemen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trailblazers have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Hershey, they will host Gothenburg at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
