Baseball Game Preview: Southington Blue Knights vs. Berlin Redcoats

The Southington Blue Knights will take on the Berlin Redcoats at 4:15 p.m. on Sunday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Berlin will be up against a hot Southington squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Blue Knights' pitcher stepped up to hand New Britain a 10-0 shutout on Friday.

Southington gave Luke Prozzo the start and clearly made the right call: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Mitch Zielinski was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Drew Kelly, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Berlin made easy work of Middletown on Friday and carried off a 12-1 victory. The game marked the Redcoats' most dominant win of the season.

Berlin's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Southington, their win bumped their record up to 15-2.

Southington was able to grind out a solid victory over Berlin in their previous matchup back in April, winning 5-2. Will the Blue Knights repeat their success, or do the Redcoats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
