Basketball Recap: Pomona Comes Up Short

Pomona came into this matchup off a tough 29-point loss on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Greeley Central Wildcats by a score of 62-60 on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (55), the Panthers still had to take the loss.

Greeley Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Espoir Sylvere, who went 5-for-6 en route to 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Peyton Lopez, who posted 15 points and six boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Pomona and nudges their season record down to 0-2. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 57.5 points this season. As for Greeley Central, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Pomona has already played their next contest, a 65-39 loss against Thornton on the 6th. As for Greeley Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 65-50 victory against Littleton on the 6th.
