Basketball Recap: Mission Bay Takes a Loss

Mission Bay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost to the Coronado Islanders on the road by a 34-20 margin. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1053rd, while the Islanders are ranked 516th).

When it comes to explaining why Mission Bay lost, don't look at Imani Cosby. Despite the final result, she posted seven points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 boards gave Cosby a new career-high.

Coronado's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gabby Fichter, who put up nine points. Emily Albin was another key player, putting up six points and four blocks.

Mission Bay's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Coronado, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-1.

Mission Bay has already played their next game, a 53-16 victory against Clairemont on the 18th. As for Coronado, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 45-34 defeat against Canyon Hills on the 21st.
