Baseball Game Preview: Griffin Bears vs. Central Lions

The Griffin Bears will venture away from home to challenge the Central Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Griffin has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Central will arrive with eight straight wins.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Griffin's offense. They lost 6-0 to Central on Thursday.

Tyson Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Griffin saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taevion Gates, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Central's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.5 runs. As for Griffin, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
