Basketball Recap: Amiya Aldridge's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Venice over Palisades

If Venice was feeling good fresh off their 64-26 takedown of Gahr on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gondoliers fell 60-56 to the Palisades Dolphins on Wednesday. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Gondoliers, who until this game were averaging 28.5 points allowed.

Venice lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Amiya Aldridge, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 14 boards. Aldridge is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least five every time she's taken the court this season. Malia Embuido was another key player, putting up nine points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Venice fell to 5-1. As for Palisades, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Venice won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Taft at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Palisades, they will head out on the road to face off against Los Angeles CES at 4:30 p.m. on the 18th.
