Basketball Recap: St. Joseph Notre Dame Falls to San Leandro in First Game of Season

St. Joseph Notre Dame had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were beaten by the San Leandro Pirates 54-24. The Pilots lost against the Pirates in their previous head to head back in February of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 2-0 score last time.

San Leandro found their leader in freshman Amelie Atako, who posted eight points along with 11 steals and seven boards. Alana Daly was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Coming up, St. Joseph Notre Dame will take on St. Patrick-St. Vincent at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for San Leandro, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pittsburg at 3:00 p.m. on the 29th.
