Soccer Game Preview: Piedmont Hills vs. Westmont

The Piedmont Hills Pirates will take on the Westmont Warriors at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. Piedmont Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.5 goals per game this season.

Westmont better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Piedmont Hills really get things going. Piedmont Hills' defense stepped up to hand Milpitas a 3-0 shutout on Thursday. The Pirates' winning goal came courtesy of Gabby Mercado.

Meanwhile, Westmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Ann Sobrato, falling 5-1. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 4-0.

Westmont's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Piedmont Hills, their win bumped their record up to 2-0-3.

Piedmont Hills skirted past Westmont 1-0 in their previous matchup back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for Piedmont Hills since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
