After a string of four wins, Berkner's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 24-19 to the Lake Highlands Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Wildcats are ranked 104th).

Berkner lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Nicko Campbell, who picked up 115 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 83 yards on only six carries. Ty Crethers also helped out as he racked up 139 receiving yards.

Berkner didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of DaQuwan Dunn and Jaden Jones. Ricky McBride was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Berkner's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for Lake Highlands, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Berkner will take on rival Irving at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lake Highlands is set to face off against their familiar foe Nimitz at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
