Baseball Recap: IC Catholic Prep Comes Up Short

IC Catholic Prep extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 7-16. They lost 11-3 to the Marmion Cadets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 11-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

IC Catholic Prep saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camilo Colombari, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Marmion, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-16. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23rd (when they won 11-1).

On Marmion's side, Benjamin Piekarz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on nine hits. Piekarz has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brendan Kavanaugh was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Yates, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

While IC Catholic Prep had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
