Basketball Game Preview: Sonoma Valley Dragons vs. American Canyon Wolves

The Sonoma Valley Dragons will take on the American Canyon Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Sonoma Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 57-33 margin over Vintage on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Dragons who have now won three matchups in a row.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely American Canyon's strategy against Napa on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that American Canyon blew Napa out of the water with a 70-7 final score. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 22 points or more this season.

Sonoma Valley better keep an eye on Jordan Woodson. She was instrumental in American Canyon's win, going 7 for 12 on her way to 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. With that strong performance, Woodson is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyra Fleming, who posted six points and nine boards.

American Canyon has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for Sonoma Valley, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
