Softball Recap: Lafayette County Wins Going Away Against Knob Noster

Lafayette County hadn't done well against Knob Noster recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Huskers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 16-0 shutout. That looming 16-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Huskers yet this season.

Lafayette County got a massive performance out of Ava Amos, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Amos has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Baylee Crawford, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.

Lafayette County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Lafayette County and bumps their season record up to 9-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Knob Noster, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Looking ahead, Lafayette County will be playing in front of their home fans against Holden at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Knob Noster will be paying especially close attention to the Huskers' game: after the Huskers face off against Lexington, they'll take on Knob Noster again at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
