Recap: Armstrong River Hawks vs. Mars Fightin' Planets
The Armstrong River Hawks waltzed into their matchup on Monday with five straight wins but they left with six. They took down Mars 53-35. Given Armstrong's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Fightin' Planets are ranked 232nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Mars saw an underclassman step up: Alexis Cashdollar almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cashdollar has scored all season. Mya Moore was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two blocks.
Armstrong is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Mars, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
Armstrong will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on the Gators at 7:30 p.m. on February 12th. As for Mars, they will be playing at home against the Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
