Football Game Preview: St. John's/Tipton Catholic Blujays vs. Axtell Eagles

St. John's/Tipton Catholic hasn't had much luck against Axtell recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Blujays are taking a road trip to face off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Friday, St. John's/Tipton Catholic took their game with ease, bagging a 54-6 victory over Pike Valley. The Blujays' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

St. John's/Tipton Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Edward Horinek led the charge by picking up 55 receiving yards and three scores. Another pass catcher making a difference was John Mick, who picked up 56 receiving yards and one TD.

St. John's/Tipton Catholic's run defense was locked in: Pike Valley could only muster 0.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Dominic Eilert for the heroic effort on defense: he. Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Axtell, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They blew past Frankfort 58-12 on Friday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

The victory got St. John's/Tipton Catholic back to even at 4-4. As for Axtell, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

St. John's/Tipton Catholic was taken down by Axtell 48-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2021. Can the Blujays avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
