Football Recap: Arkansas City Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Arkansas City extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They took a blow against the Maize South Mavericks, falling 56-21. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Mavericks from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Arkansas City's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Trevin Miller, who picked up 182 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and Joshua Abrams, who picked up 88 receiving yards and one touchdown.

As for Maize South, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Reign Illian produced another solid effort throwing for 371 yards and six TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushing for 65 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Stratten Ebers was Illian's top target, picking up 146 receiving yards and three scores.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Arkansas City will face off against Eisenhower at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.2 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Maize South, they will challenge Maize at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mavericks will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups.
