Basketball Recap: Sheldon Takes a Loss

After flying high against Cosumnes Oaks last Friday, Sheldon came back down to earth. The Sheldon Huskies fell to the Pleasant Grove Eagles 65-61. The Huskies haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Sheldon lost on Monday, don't look at Brooklin Kimmons. Despite the final result, she went 12 of 20 en route to 31 points and seven rebounds. Kimmons' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Saniah Wiley was another key player, going 5 for 11 on her way to 13 points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Kate Myers was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 37 points, 16 rebounds, and nine assists for Pleasant Grove. Myers is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Leila Williamson, who went 6 of 10 en route to 12 points and eight boards.

Sheldon's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Pleasant Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Sheldon has already played their next game (against Franklin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Pleasant Grove has also has no score uploaded for their next match, this one against Elk Grove.
